Good calories

The goodness within

A calorie is a unit of energy. We need energy to help fuel our bodies and our brains to help us do stuff like butter toast, chat on the phone and paint our nails at the same time.

Our bodies get this energy from the food we eat and different types of food contain different amounts of energy. For example. starch and sugars are carbohydrates and both provide 4kcal per gram. In contrast, fat contains 9 kcals per gram, which is more than twice the number of calories found in starch and sugar.

As most fruits contain very little fat, our drinks have practically no fat in them. Fruit does contain sugar though, so most of the energy in our drinks comes from the natural sugar in the fruit. Each one of our little bottles contains 2 portions of fruit as well as being packed full of vitamins, fibre and phytonutrients. Essentially what this means is that you get lots of good stuff for each and every calorie in our drinks.

For the mathematicians among you, a 250ml serving size of an innocent smoothie provides you between 113 - 173 kcal, which is just 6-9% of the total calories you are supposed to eat in one day.
